How Airlift Publishing began
Airlift Publishing was founded by Suzanne Eaton, who has been writing and submitting her own work throughout a life that has held both difficult and joyous seasons. Along the way, she built businesses ranging from a martial arts studio to a preschool program, and developed support materials for the cosmetic, herbal, and court reporting industries. Harmony Press was the forerunner to Airlift — Eaton opened it years earlier and published a Chinese herbal reference book, a series of Healthy Living booklets, and self-improvement programs, growing it into a fulfillment business, utilizing local artists and printers.
As Harmony Press grew, so did its staff — and Eaton kept noticing the same thing in the people around her: everyone has a book in them. They just need to give it to the paper to hold. As they release it, they find they have the power and reach to help others. Some of those books reached for scripture and prayer; others reached for energy, intuition, and healing language that didn't require any one faith tradition. Both were just as real, and both deserved a home. That's the reason Airlift publishes in two distinct wings instead of one — because the people carrying these stories don't all come from the same place, and they shouldn't have to squeeze into the same lane to be heard.
Airlift Publishing carries that work forward. We provide support materials that "LIFT" — that encourage while offering substance, honesty, and strength to help people move forward in hope and faith. Whether you're facing domestic violence, addiction, suicidal ideation, sexual assault, homelessness, illness, the death of a loved one, divorce or other significant loss, incarceration, rejection, painful parenthood, conflict in relationships, disorders, peer pressure, or something else entirely, we hope to acknowledge your struggle, offer strength to survive it, and provide the momentum to change your circumstances.
We don't want to replace your therapist, but we find great value in writing feelings out — and we're pretty sure most therapists would agree. We hope to become a virtual support group and the best resource for finding hope. We invite you to check back with us frequently.
Hope floats, and we all need a lift.
Two wings, one press
Why we publish in two distinct wings — and why that's the whole point.
Most spiritual publishers pick a lane. We named ours on purpose, side by side, because our readers don't fit in just one lane either.
